I played defensive back last year for the team. We already have two good running backs that played last year. I'm just as good as them but the coaches already count me out because they haven't seen me run with the ball yet. What drills and things should i do to train?

  1. Build up your muscle mass, your strength, and perhaps do resistance training. Exercise in a pool, and also do exercises that pro running backs do. You need to do training that involves you being hit and tackled. Also, build up your speed, do running exercises.

Also, approach your coaches. Ask them to give you a shot, or at least see what you got.

  2. if you want to get noticed then just get there attention by talking to the coaches more but not about football just so that they get to know you, after that start running some 40s in front of them so that they can see how fast you are and HIT SOMEBODY

  3. why is this under running???oh well, just work harder than everyone else, and "always believe"

  4. Well, do you guys run sprints? If you do then run as fast as you can, and if you end up in the top 3 then you might get some of the coaches eyes. And being a running a back isn't just about speed. Its a combination between speed and strength. The fastest are usually the secondary and db's and wr's. The reason why strenght and toughness are supposed to be in a running back because the running back is like a ragdoll for the defense. lol
