I hope someone can help. I have lots of lovely outfits for my baby boy and they are all being ruined by his baby food. i have tried soaking them in washing powder and vanish powder. Washing them at the highest temp i could. adding vanish to the washing machine cycle.Washing them over and over but nothing seems to work. any ideas?. does anyone know of any products that actually work.

thanks

  1. My son loves mashed carrot and i use fairy household soap (not the hand soap) on it first then wash in machine

  2. I have the same problem with my 3 month old's clothes, except his are being ruined with chocolate spread.

Vanish is supposed to be good, however, once you dry a stain after washing it, it becomes almost impossible to remove. Hydrogen peroxide, (which is the main ingredient in vanish) would get it out, but has the potential to bleach the colours out, and weaken the fabric. My husband is a mobile valeter, and he uses this stuff, (he only tells me that it's all purpose cleaner) but it works an absolute treat.. i know it's from cartec, but that's about it.

Given that it's orange, (most likely on blue, cream and white) my best advice is to do what i do to get the chocolate out..

Clear your kitchen sink and put the plug in. Put the garment, stained side up, unto the sink. Boil your kettle, then pour 1/2 the water over the  stain. then get your power stain remover stick or spray (i used fairy powerspray) and soak the stain completely. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, then go back to it with an old toothbrush. (only brush which wont do too much damage to the fabric) scrub at the stain a bit, then pour the rest of the hot water over it. i have to repeat this a few times, but it does get chocolate out.. even on cream coloured tops!

8 as an after note, there are supposed to be products which help materials become stain -resistant, but to date, i havent found any which actually work. The only other thing I can suggest to you is to go get some cheap, oversized bibs for feeding times. If your son is anything like mine, he hates things being around his throat, so try to get the ones which look a bit loose around the collar. Good luck!

  3. try stain devil for oil

  4. I have had the same problem with my daughter's clothes. I use a very very dilute solution of bleach and soak clothes for several hours/overnight. If it's weak enough it doesn't seem to lift the colours of the clothes.

  5. Try watered down bleach and buy him a bib.

  6. Deodorant bar soap and a toothbrush. Wet the item thoroughly with cold water, rub the bar soap over the stain brush in and launder as usual. Right as rain it'll be gone.

  7. i have a 8 month old grandaughter who stays with me quite a lot .when i feed her the bibs she wears often get stained and her vests have been known to stain once or twice if her nappy leaks.what i do is have a small bowl on the kitchen window filled with hot water and washing powder .when anythings stained i rinse it through under the tap then put it in the bowl rub the soiled area a little leave there until i do her washing .because it has soaked then had a 40 degree wash it all comes out.i use DAZ always have done on my childrens clothes my eldest is 18
