How do i get out the victory road in pokemon diamond ?

Question

When i try to get out of the victory road there is a guy standing in front of the exit and won't let me through... so is there another exit to go out the victory road or what do I have to do so that guy will let me through?

do you have all your badges? what does he say when you try to go through? you're probably going to have to go back out through the entrance. or you can use an escape rope if you have one, or if you have the TM dig you can teach a ground pokemon and leave that way.
