  1. baking soda

  2. The most important thing is after you clean it you must be able to suck up the residue. Whether you use a commerical spray cleaner, or baking soda or whatever, you need to get it all out.  If you don't have a wet-vac or carpet cleaner (like Hoover steamvac) then borrow or rent one. I don;t know how we lived without on when I was growing up with pets. I will never be without at least a little dust-buster wetvac.

  3. go to the pet store and get one of the pet urine removers... they have bacterial agents in them that "eat" the urin and after you use it the smell is gone!!!! it realy works... those other "over the counter' old wives tales do not work.... these really are the only way to get it all out... the others will stink if it gets humid out!!!!

  4. There is an enzyme cleaner you can buy at any pet store and probably walmart. It is the only thing that will get urine odor out of carpet and furniture. I assume since it works for pet urine it would work for people pee.

  5. Call Stanley Steemer or another professional, & have then steam clean your couch. They have pre treaters they can use that will help eliminate the odor when all is said & done. Don't waste your time trying to do it yourself, especially if it's pet urine.

  6. bleach!  If it's bleachable

I have two small dogs and they pee on our faux-leather couch on occasion, we windex it, and use clorox with bleach to wipe it down.

If its a cushion, with cloth-outside take of the cover if you can.  Spray it with a hose and hand wash it with dish soap and detergent.  Even the cushions.  The covers can go in the dryer if they wont shrink, but if they will, line dry them.

once everything has dryed out, rinse them again and re-assemble

It's a long process, but worth it if you don't want to buy a new couch

  7. Try febreeze after you clean the couch with equal parts mixture of water and vinegar. let that soak on the spot until dry then spray with the febreeze.

  8. You can remove the urine and the smell if you follow the instructions given in Tip No. 12 on the page below.

It also has the advantage that the tip is eco-friendly - not relying on chemical products.
