  1. What's up?

  2. The option is confusing and misleading.  Unchecking the box really means do not start up YMJ when windows starts.  You always get the system tray (notification area) icon when you start YMJ.  The best you can do is hide the icon by customizing notifications and  setting it to always hide.  You would have to make a suggestion to Yahoo.

The Run Key for YMJ may be left over from a previous release of YMJ.  It should have been removed.  Use Msconfig to get rid of it.  Under the most current release of YMJ, they put a shortcut link to YMJ in the start menu (Start->All Programs->Startup).   :)

If the box is remaining checked (after you unchecked it), did you click Apply towards the bottom of the window?

Don't give up.  Msconfig doesn't delete the run key, it just moves it around so that YMJ won't auto start at Logon.  So let's get rid of the Msconfig message and I'll give you a tool to delete the run key.  What you want to do is get Msconfig to enable the key that you disabled and tell Msconfig not to start at Logon.  I hope you can figure that out.  Next, I want you to start a utility (which was written and comes from Microsoft) to delete the run key.  It is called Autoruns.  Here's the website, download the program, run it and delete the key for YMJ.
