  1. Gymnastics would help give you streghth and flexibility. Just make sure you stretch everyday to get your body ready.

  2. Hi, I have been in dance for eight (almost nine) years, I did some ballet but now I have moved into Lyrical. I would prefer stretching two to three times a day. Dont worry about your splits yet because those will come in time, you can also walk on your toes alot around your house so that you are used to being on your toes by the time you start practice.

Thats really all the advice I can give you.

    I hope you enjoy Dance!

  3. stretch...a lot.

  4. well if you already know some ballet then practice it over and over to perfect it. and always stretch. you need to be really flexible!!!!!

        i hope i helped!!!!!!!!!

  5. Stretch deffinatley, in ballet you have to be flexible. Do some split stretchs like wall straddle stretches. But yeah stretch. Oh and if you know any ballet techniques go over them, that will give you some pratice.

  6. Mainly just do gentle daily stretching, ensuring you warm up prior to this.

Stretch your shoulders and arms individually, using the arm behind head stretch, arm across body stretch etc.

Stretch your spine by laying on the floor on your stomach and pushing up with your hands. Ensure your pelvis in still on the floor. Then lift your feet up as well, trying to touch your head to your feet. Then come down, and contract into a ball, stretching your arms out.

Stretch your legs by doing sit and reach, toe touches, legs in second and head to floor, one leg sit and reach, soles of feet together and knees bent and head to feet etc. Then splits Right Left and Middle.

Stretch your neck by GENTLY moving it side to side and up and down.

Finally, stretch your feet by pointing and flexing them, and doing plently of tendus.

  7. Besides stretching, you can start doing plie's (youtube for a demo). Also, you can start the academic part by learning the meaning of some of the steps.
