If a woodpecker is making holes he is getting insects in the wood.

You have the choice of insect or woodpecker. Typically the woodpecker will not clean up the insect problem, they have to keep coming back as more eggs hatch and the grubs grow.

You can poison the environment to get rid of the insects, but then you will have to keep on poisoning it to stay ahead of new insect invasions. May as well accept the services of the woodpeckers.

They have some plastic owls that U can mount in the area and most birds leave. It is especially good for protecting signs.
