In the draw where you add the detergent there is a build up of black grime and also when i pull the draw completely out and look down into the opening which goes directly into the machine. it seems that the whole system needs flushing is there a way of doing this?

Thanx

  1. Check the manual. You should be able to pull the drawer out and give it a thorough wash. It may be possible to wash it in the dishwasher.

As for flushing the machine, the best I've found is to pour a kettle of boiling water down the hole. It's not very effective but I've not found any other way.

To stop the build up of black mould, after using the washing machine leave both the drawer and the door slightly open. Drying it out will kill the mould.

  2. You need to remove the drawer evey few months and give it a clean. You should also run your machine empty on the hottest wash about once a month.

To get it smelling nice and fresh I put in a tablespoon of Soda Crystals which is good for removing stains, smells and also clears blocked sinks to if there is anything in the machine it will help to clear it out.

  3. If you visit a hardware store you will find that they sell a variety of bottle brushes. Acquire one or two long ones and use these carefully to dislodge the crud. I don't use the dispenser at all. I put the clothes in, throw a measure of powder detergent in, and bingo!  My dispenser and it's tube are spotless and fragrant. There is a school of thought that says the detergent should start off with the clothes, as often it is washed into the bottom of the drum, forms a lump and does no good.

  4. Hiya.

you could take the draw out and clean what you can see and get to with a cloth and hot water. replace the draw Then run the machine on a boil wash with some bleach added to the draw. This should help. Thats what i do with mine every so often. Just don't add to much bleach or you'll end up with bubbles everywhere and make sure all the bleach has gone before you wash any clothes. To be on the safe side wash whites first.

    Hope this helps.

  5. why not try soda crystals on a boil wash

  6. It is now a common problem because we are using 40 degrees or 30 to wash clothes. You need to find a bleach based washing powder and go through the full cycle at 90 degrees, on empty. You can also remove the drawer and clean that separately after the cycle. Use hot water and washing up liquid or bleach blend. It is recommended you do a high temp cycle once per month to stop the gunk piling up.

  7. After cleaning the drawer properly put a cup of white vinegar in the drum and a little in the drawer and run it on a v. hot wash - should get rid of any nasty niffs (this worked on mine anyway..!)

  8. White Vinegar is the best and safest to use with warm or hot water.

  9. Have you checked to see if the cat got in there inadvertently ?

  10. this is what I do:  You can purchased Mean Green at your local dollar store and spray down the areas you wish to clean. Let it set for a minute or two and either use a bottle brush to reach in there to clean it or a wet cloth.  Make sure you do not have any clothes in the machine while you do this. After you are done, set it on small rinse cycle and let the machine run to rinse it all out.
