  1. pestacide? like bug be gone spray?

  2. 1. There's always the ants powder that can be bought from any hardware stores or supermarket.

    2. Last resort would be the pest control company.

  3. someone told me to use bleach so i did and it worked for a while now i use home defence made be ortho and it works if you use it early morning or late afternoon when the ants are not as active, spray around the mound about 5 foot out and soak teh center of the mound. Good Luck!

  4. Use Ortho Max Fire Ant Killer Boadcast Granules. These granules look like grains or seeds. These work like a charm and are so easy to use. ALl you do is pour a bunch of granules on the mound, then you pour some water. You can find this at your local Home Depot or Lowes.

  5. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it here and there. The ants will come and pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

  6. Ants that live outside will travel inside the home to search for food. Some species may ultimately reside in houses, discussed later in this fact sheet. To prevent both of these scenarios, follow these procedures:

First, cracks and crevices should be sealed to eliminate passages into the home. If you do not seal entry points, ants will probably find their way into your house at some later time.

Second, scrub around entry points with a detergent (to remove the trail pheromone) and spray a residual insecticide around entry points.

Bait treatments and insecticides can be used to control ants in the outside nest. To be effective baits must be placed in areas where ants frequent, eaten and be taken back to the nest. There are several different kinds of baits available, and you may have to do a little trial-and-error to find the proper bait. Because the ants must get back to the nest for satisfactory control this strategy may be incompatible with insecticide sprays which may kill worker ants before they can get back to the nest with the bait. The successful use of a bait may take several weeks or more.

Insecticide dilutions can be used outside to successfully drench ant nests. Be sure to follow label recommendations for correct procedures when applying the insecticide.

  7. If you have children or pets you don't want to use pesticides. The natural way to rid yourself of ants is with cornmeal or grits. Pour several mounds on and near the ant hills and the ants will take it back to the colony to feed on. Ants cannot completely digest cornmeal or grits and eventually die from starvation due to buildup of the fiber in their digestive systems. It takes about a week but they are gone for good at that point.

    Here are some other tips.
