  1. They bite.

    It hurts.

Their poison is comparable to bee stings. It all depends on the child's individual body chemistry as to how bad the reaction is.

House centipedes can be identified by their extremely long, thin legs.  The best way to get rid of them is going to be to get rid of their food source: bugs.

A general pest control service should be able to rid your home of pests in a short time (a couple of months at the most).  In the mean time, replace any worn or broken weatherstripping around your windows and doors.  Seal any gaps such as around the water and/or power lines that enter your home.  Use a product like Big Stretch so it'll last a long time and do this on the outside of your home so the bugs won't have a chance to enter.

Sticky mouse traps (the kind that fold up and look a bit like a tent) are great for house centipedes too.  A captured centipede is just as good as a dead one.  However, sticky traps won't solve the problems.  If you don't kill their prey, they'll breed faster than you can kill them.

  2. the way to control house centipedes are by cleaning up and rying wet spaces as much as possible. For the most pert they are scared of us..

actually, they eat pretty much any other bug u DOnt WANt in ur house, like insect larve, insects, spiders Tho they are butt ugly they are considered benificiall and clean up al the nastier bugs you dont want,

i dont think they are a real threat to a four year old, they clean up most of the disgusting more threatanin bugs. =D

    hope this helps =D
