  1. I agree with most of whats been said except the shaving. My daughter got it from the hair salon when they used the sheers to shave her neck after a very short hair cut. I had my hair cut too but not with the sheers. This was 4 weeks ago. I used NIX, they came back 5 days later. no one told me how thorough I had to be in dealing with this. I called Dr and got a script. Then I picked her head for 2 hours straight strand by strand. Literally! The lice itself are easy to see but the eggs not so much. They are nearly transparent with a light brown tint, they almost look like a tiny splinter with a slight silver sheen. Hard to explain but once you see one you will know what to look for and how incredibly hard they can be to spot especially if they are small. You can not possibly do this as well as you need to by yourself. They latch on to the hair shaft anywhere from the scalp itself to about an inch out. It is almost like they are glued to the hair shaft.

I use my head lamp (a flashlight attached to a head band on my forehead) and about 20 bobby pins to section off the hair. I pick her hair every day and finally after a week of doing this REALLY well I dont find any but trust me - I STILL look even after 4 weeks.

You will need to get the spray for things that can not be washed AND dried. Hot water and a hot dryer. My Dr said I could either put stuffed animals in a ziploc bag and put it in the garage  for a week(100+ degrees right now) or in the freezer for 48 hrs. Vacuum the house top to bottom, spray the mattresses, wash sheets every day for a week and put pillows and comfortors in hot dryer for 30 minutes every day.

I have never dealt with anything like this before and because I listened to very good advice I hope to never deal with it again. Be dilagent and do this every day for a week and this nightmare will end.

    Been there done that.

  2. my daughter had it all the time when she was in school

  5. Did you ask your pharmacist?  Lots of times they know of things the Drs. don't even know as they are up on the latest of EVERYTHING.  It's sure worth a try.  I DO wish you ALL the best, there has to be something that w/work...:)

  6. Hi,

Unfortunately, as a foster parent, I have had tonnes of experience with this.  You need to treat the hair, then with your nails, the combs don't work, you need to "nit pick" and get every nit out of their hair.  Use R&C spray on the mattresses and couches.  Take all stuffed animals, and put them in a hot dryer for atleast an hour.  I know they say that the product kills the nits, but I have never ever been able to get rid of lice unless I got every single nit out by hand, then treated again at the recommended time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Good luck!  I know it is a lot of work and not fun!

  7. The best and oldest method is shaving it off - it grows back .

  8. a zapper

    it zaps them

  9. You cant just treat your hair. You have to treat your whole house. If you have young children and they have teddi bears put them in a garbage bag. (the bears not the kids) for ten days. The same with your pillows and blankets. Wash them with bleach. Vacuum your bed, and any carpet area in your house. Its a long proccess but eventually they will go away. Also dont lie on a bed or couch if you have not treated the pillows and blankets.. ect... because you will just get lice all over again. The store bought prescriptions do work if you do them correctly. And do the cleaning of your house. It would even be good to go through and vaccuum your vehicle and maybe throw away your brushes and buy new. Good luck. I know its a pain.

  10. shave your hair

  11. well when you got the prescription stuff for lice

or the treatment or whatever doesnt it come with a little

ccomb so you can comb them out,

  12. Cornmeal. Mix it with water and into a paste. Heavyly Put into your hair. You will need someone to take each strand and slide the cornmeal off. The bugs will off with the cornmeal.

Do this outside, the helper should wear a shower cap, and gloves.

Wash all bedding, towels, clothes, vacuum couches, spray lysol on bed

  13. If u cant get rid of it with shampoo wear a shower cap and put all stuff animals and pillows in garbage bags they should be gone in two weeks good luck:D
