How do i get rid of mice in my house?

I suspected I had mice but wasn't sure until I found a little mouse nest inside an old welly boot. There were 6 dead baby mice in it but no sign of the mother. I've bought a couple of the plug in devices that claim to deter rodents but do they work? what else can I do? I'm just too squeamish to put down traps.

get a cat.  I put traps out with peanut butter and eventually they will all pass out. either you get over being squeemish or learn to love the rodents

You could buy the blocks of poison that you just place around the areas where you suspect mice are living. The mice eat them, and go back to where they are living and die. Sometimes they even take it back to the nest to the family. You never have to see the dead mice.

go to your local  co-op ( feed and seed store) and ask them for the green  stuff that people use to put out in chicken houses to kill rats.

I'm not sure of the name of it, but it comes in round marble size.. and also big block size. You can put the small size stuff in the house, behind washers, stoves, ect. and use the large bars to toss under the house. It is suppose to dry them up after they eat it so that they don't smell if you don't find them right away.  I'm not sure if the plug in device works or not.. There is something out that looks like a box, that the mice go into and it traps them inside it so you dont see them when they get caught. Other than that, maybe call someone out like a pest control guy.. or get a inside cat.

Get a cat.  No messy traps to handle.  Easy maintenance.  They kill every mouse in sight and they can also serve as a companion.
