Question:

How do i get rid of mild damp in my bedroom

I have recently moved into a share house and my bedroom has slight damp feeling.

It has great wooden floorboards and high ceilings make the room feel cold, but the girl who rented the room before me said she left her mattress and it was really wet when she took it up 2 weeks later.

I have also noticed that my clothes and bed linen feel very slightly damp.

I have a small fan heater in my room but i don't really want to have to buy a dehumidifier as it is expensive.

Are there any tips as to how to stop the damp or anything i can hang in my wardrobe to stop my clothes being damp?

Thanks

  1. Try a de-humidifier. And make sure there's no mold in there. That can be deadly.

  2. There is a product called "Damp Rid" and it is like a jar of absorbent stuff.  You might need 2 jars in your bedroom.  I have seen this product sold at Wal-Mart and places like that.

  3. burn a candle . It takes the moisture out of the air. In your case do it like every day.

  4. Well, my family has had the same problem in our basement.. it felt damp and moldy... simply buy a de-humidifer and set it up. In days we felt a difference.. It takes all of the water out of the air.

  5. crack open the window

  6. It sound like you have a plumbing problem, is your room next to the bathroom, kitchen or laundry room. What happens is that the leak may not be to big just enough for cloth to absorb it. Get it check before mold start growing.
