  1. Mushrooms are a sign of too much water

  2. It may be down to the type of compost your plants are growing in. When I switched to using peat free compost I found an increase in the number of fungi sprouting up where I did not want them. Fungi spores thrive on rotting wood and vegetable matter. Once fungi have spawned the spores can survive in the soil for years. The spores may have spread around the house and will germinate in damp pots etc.

Don't let growing fungi spawn. Try switching to a different type of compost for your house plants. If the problem persists you may have to re-pot the plants or throw them out and start again.

  3. you are keeping them too wet.... let them dry out a LITTLE between waterings... your potting soil must have a good bit of woody organic matter in it... like mulch.... they'll go away when the soil is dry-er.....

  4. I had this problem -- I was overwatering, and the plants were too wet.  Let them get some air and dry out.
