Suddenly, i've become so attracted to the lifestyle of people in the 20's and 30's. Especially the idea of being a stay at home mom, where my husband goes to work and support the family. I mean the pressures and competition in today's society makes me feel like escaping. help

  1. Staying home to raise children is a good lifestyle in any decade!  There are tons of stay home moms now too.  When you're on your deathbed, do you think you'd wish you spent more time in an office?  Or being there with your children as they grew up?  Everyone is different, but don't feel bad if you want to stay home with the kids.  It's a beautiful choice.

  2. serving your kids& husband and not some boss from some forlorn business isn't modern?? then what is?!? good choice lady :)

  3. Unfortunately today's way of life makes it nearly impossible for women to stay at home and let their husband take care of everything. The cost of gas alone is enough to force many stay at home moms back into the workplace, at least part time. Women in the 20's and 30's did work, they had to because it was depression era. You're probably thinking of the 50's and 60's where the "perfect housewife" ideal was popular. But even so women still worked, just not as many.

You may want to find out what is making you want to hide out at home. Not every job is high pressure and competitive...try looking for something not as stressful as what you're used to. It's not fair for your husband to be the sole provider for the family unless you're willing to be on a strict budget, which not many people are willing or able to do.

You also have to think of your future. What will you do if your husband loses his job, heaven forbid passes away, or you get divorced? I know these aren't pleasant things to think of, but it's naive to think that just because things are a certain way now, it's how they're always going to be. You need to be able to support yourself and your children at a moment's notice.
