  1. I agree 100% with "Shelter puppies rule"...anytime you see an ad for "free to a good home", you can bet that dog fighters will send a sweet little old lady to your house to "adopt" your pet.  It then will be tortured to death training dogs for fights!

  2. don't post the dog in any ad. you don't know what kind of person will snatch up your dog for TORTURE (ie. dog fighting, animal testing/laboratories, or be an abusive, neglectful owner). what the person above me said!

you made a committment to this dog. he thinks you and him are a pack.

can't you hire a dog walker? even pay a neighborhood kid a few bucks to play with your dog?

  3. call a rescue organization, there is one for every breed.

  4. How sad to just not have time for a dog.   Call your Humane Society or SPCA.  It may cost 20-50 dollars to surrender your dog there, but they might be able to find her a good home.

If you post a "free to good home" ad in the newspaper--unscrupulous people scan those ads daily. They'll take your dog to use for a bait dog in dog fights, or may in turn sell her to a lab for experimentation.

People "make the time" for things that are important to them.  New jobs don't cut the mustard here, sorry.

  5. post an add in your local paper.

email friends/family see if they'd like to have the dog.

take the dog to your local grooming salon and asked if they can help find the dog a home.

dont take the dog to a pound if you cant help it!

    GOOD LUCK

  6. I just love this question.  I can't even imagine how many folks that are on this list asking about how to help their bi+ch whelp a litter because they have puppies coming look at this question and even consider this dog may be one they bred.  Of course chances of that are real slim.

    Right.

First thing to do is review the contract (you got one of those, right?!), then contact the breeder (you've been in regular contact with them too, right?!)

Most (reputable) breeders have the first right of refusal -before you consider any other option of placing your dog.

Next time try rephrasing the question to rehoming instead of getting rid of.

  7. you could try a non-killing shelter

  8. craigslist has a section called community its under that link when you click on post an ad go to community then go to pets!

  9. call your local SPCA. or a breed rescue (if your dog is a purebred)

I'm sorry but i have to say. i don't understand how you don't have time.

im a mother of 4 children, i have 4 dogs, and my husband deploys overseas constantly due to him being in the military, and yet i have time for ALL of my dogs, and my children.

i don't know your "circumstances" but hon...if i can handle all that responsibility all by my little 'ol lonesome self, i really don't think one dog is so hard for you to handle.

hire a dog walker, look into "doggie daycare" or a pet sitter. seriously! what happens when you have a baby and then decide..oh gosh... i don't have TIME for her/him?

    edit:

Just thought I'd make this public...since i find email tactics incredibly juvenile.

    firstly it's horse, not hourse.

second, cry me a freaking  river.  Lots of people work their tails off and still make time for family AND pets. What makes you so “special”?

Third, if you shirk off your commitment to an innocent animal for a lame excuse don’t come running to me because you're upset about it. That is on you.

All I meant was that if I can do what *I* do day in and day out, *I* don’t see why you can’t handle one d**n dog.

You put that question up, I gave an honest answer. I didn’t cuss you out; I didn't call you a bad person. Did I?

    Nope.

So maybe I’m not the one on the high horse here.

No further messages will be replied to, or they will be reported as harassment.

    Good day

  10. tak her to a no kill shelter or give her to someone you know can take care of her

  11. Aww this is sad! She is bound to be unsettled wherever she goes as she probably became attached to you! Whatever you do with her, make sure she goes to someone who know and can trust. At least this way you know she will be ok. But try to consider these things before you make that lifelong commitment next time.

    Hope this helps.

  12. Yes craigslist will let you post an add for a dog if you are either giving it away for free of asking a small rehoming fee for the dog.  You could put an ad in the paper or see if you can find a no-kill shelter to surrender your dog to.  I admire you for wanting to find a way to save the life of a pet that you clearly love and want to keep alive.

  13. If you want to find her  a good home then put posters up at feedstore, vets office, pet stores.   Put ad on craigslist (you can place pet for rehoming only )   Put ad o Livedeal.com.  talk to relatives, friends and neighbors.

Check local rescue groups and hopefully someone will  love your dog. I can't imagine giving up companion and watchdog..... but you know your situation.
