Im a Stay at home mom going back to college after a considerable amount of time away. I now have kids in school. I am sooo intimidated about how young and pretty everyone is. I feel so ugly and old and stupid. How do I shake that feeling. I mean im almost want to withdraw because i feel so inadequate. Things have really changed since my first time around. I feel sick.

  1. Do cybercollege. It college on the computer. Right now I am doing cyber school, Because I dont get along with kids in school, and this works perfect for me. So try and do cyber college.

    Good luck.

  2. I'm in college and i see a few older moms in some of my classes and its really not a big deal. Maybe try buying some new clothes or getting a hair cut, just something to cheer you up.

  3. your looking at it the wrong way, as far as Im concerned, your probably one of the most adequate people there, you have much more life experience than the kids there and are focused on getting your education. Personally there are quite a few older moms in my classes and we get along fine. if your really worried the later classes tend to have older kids, so you can try that. good luck, don't do online classes if you have the time to go in, its so much easier to have a teacher.

    Best of luck

  4. Well, I sometimes see a few older people in my classes and I often assume that they're just teachers in training or something. I don't see why you would feel ugly, old, and stupid. You should feel experienced and mature. So many kids in college are just that. They may be over 18, but that doesn't mean they are old enough to see the world through mature eyes (hence all the drinking). They have a lot to learn from you.
