my daughter kept getting lice. we have finally gotten rid of the bugs but today she got sent home from school because her hair is so thin that i cannot get the nits out. they are white and her doctor told me they are dead, but she cannot return to school until they are gone. short of shaving her head or going through each hair and pulling them out with my nails (which is not working well either) i have tried everything. if someone knows how to get them to loosen up so i can get them to wash out or comb out better, please help me. thank you

  1. time to see the pediatrician.

  2. you can get A BRUSH AND PUT A STOCKING OVER IT AND BRUSH THROUGH THE HAIR YOU CAN ALSO PUT VINIGER IN THE HAIR TO LOOSEN UP THE EGGS

  3. Have you tried the comb that comes in the nit rid kit?  That is a VERY fine toothed comb.  Unfortunately, the only other way of removing them is to yes - go through and pull each one from each hair.

This is such a nuisance. Good Luck

  4. i feel sooo sorry for you!  i had the same problem with a child i care for.  his hair was so thin that the nit combs available at the supermarkets wouldnt grasp the nit to pull it out.  i tried everything!  it drove me insane, not to mention the stress it put the child under.  after talking to alot of mums at playgroup, i found the best, easiest and cheapest way was to go out and buy a dog's flea comb and saturate the childs hair with conditioner.  flea combs are usually metal and very fine.  this worked a treat.  but dont forget to give it the once over once a week for the next couple of weeks just to make sure theres not another outbreak on the way...  best of luck!
