  1. Well, I have two guinea pigs, and usually they develop dry flaky skin from a lack of hygiene.  So I suggest giving your hamster a bath with moisturizing shampoo that does not have a strong scent, for it may be harmful to him.  Do not give him baths often though, or it will only dry out his skin even more.  Also, in between baths you can brush him with a small animal brush sold at petsmarts and petcos.  :]

  2. My best advice is to purchase some shampoo, from your local pet store. You must get a shampoo with the correct PH, so it doesn't harm your hamsters skin. However, you must be careful when treating your hamster, as it is sensitive to low temperatures. Therefore, it must be washed with luke wam water, and immediately dried, and maintained at a warm temperature.

    I hope this helps.

  3. if i were you id take it to the vet just in case it is some sort of infection. but it could be natural for long haired hamsters

  4. you could firstly try to brush your hamster with a soft toothbrush.

If this dosent work try to bath your hamster using special shampoo.

You might want to do this gradually, so one patch on its back, then let it dry and then do another patch. this should stop your hamster getting scared. Your hamster will probably wriggle though.

You could always go to your vets and ask them for advice too, because you might be able to prevent the dry skin with a change in your hamsters diet.

    hope this helps.
