  1. When it comes to roaches, there are no real "sure fire" methods other than total fumigation, and that does not always work permanently.  The little pesties leave "egg cases" in dark places, which hatch again, after a while.  This happens with, or without "parents".

The best method, according to many, is the so called "roach traps".

Really annoying little critters, I wish I had a sure fire method for you . .

An old man I knew, years ago had really good advice!  He said "The best way to get rid of Roaches permanently is to burn the house down".

So, you see, there is a reason that the little "buggers" have been around since the dinosaurs!

    I have provided a link, that may help a little . . .

  2. You are so correct that roaches are a major problem and can be difficult to get rid of.  In fact, there aren't many insects that can survive a week without their head and can live without water for 2 months and without food for a year.  Like rats, their adaptiveness is what has enabled them to survive for millions of years!   But you can succeed!

Part of the reason that spraying alone will not work is because roaches multiply quickly and don't necessarily crawl where spray is applied.  They climb up walls, along pipes inside your walls, come up from sewer systems which are a major supplier and entry of household roaches etc.  By the way--in most cities, if you tell them you are seeing roaches in your bathroom and specifically in your drains, they are required to spray the pipes in your neighborhood for sewer roaches.  If this could be a source of your problem, make sure the city does repeat treatments of the sewer system as just 1-2 treatments won't erradicate the problem.

    BORIC ACID

Boric acid comes in a poweder form that is both cheap and extremely effective in killing roaches on contact.  You can find it at most home improvement stores.  Take care to  place it where pets and children cannot come into contact with it.  Placing it behind or shoving it under baseboards will eliminate risks of having pets or children getting  into it.

    BLEACH

Pour 1-2 gallons of bleach down your pipes and then cover the drain openings for an hour to keep escaping roaches from running up your drains in attempts to escape.

    GELS OR  STICKY TRAPS

Gels or “sticky traps” are strips of gel or other sticky substances, designed to catch cockroaches on their way in or out of your home. The roaches will be unable to escape from the stickiness. In addition to helping get rid of roaches, these sticky strips can also help you identify where roaches live and move in your home, so you can treat highly populated areas even more aggressively.

Cockroaches prefer to walk so that the sides or tops of their bodies are touching another object, like a wall or the bottom of a piece of furniture. (This trait is called thigmotaxis or stereotaxis.) So, keep this in mind and place your sticky traps next to walls or under or next to low furniture items or cabinets.

    LIVE TRAPS

Live traps work by attracting the cockroach to the trap with some form of bait. You can purchase live traps or make your own.   using a bowl with steep sides. Put petroleum jelly on the inner walls of the container so the cockroach can’t climb back out, and then put food and damp paper toweling at the bottom of the container. Make a paper ramp leading into the container so the cockroach climbs in due to the food but is unable to escape due to the petroleum jelly barrier. After trapping roaches, you can flush them down your toilet for sanitary disposal. If your homemade trap isn’t working, consider purchasing one. Traps have the added advantage of letting you discover where the roaches are congregating in your home—the traps with more bodies are in the more populated areas, which may need additional treatment

    IGR'S

While most insecticides attack the cockroach’s nervous system, an  IGR, (Insect Growth Regulator) will work to sterilize immature cockroaches so they will not be able to reproduce as adults. Adding IGRs to your treatment plan helps ensure that both the current and future cockroach populations will be eliminated. Since fast reproduction is a major reason roach populations become and stay so large, eliminating this factor is a big boon in roach control.

    SPRAYS

Sprays can be classified by the type of insecticide they use. Common chemicals used to kill cockroaches include permethrin, imiprothrin, and cypermethrin. Some sprays are liquid, and others are powder; the powders tend to be both more toxic and more lasting, as well as capable of covering a larger area.

TIP: Don’t spray and use bait stations or traps simultaneously. The sprays will make the bait less attractive to the roach and eliminate its enticing powers. Bait stations can be better for bigger infestations, so start with stations and spray for regular upkeep once the roach population has been reduced.

  3. Jackie roaches are attracted to your bathroom because of moisture.  Remove everything from under your vanity, if it has shelf paper remove it. Buy Boric Acid in power and Jell,  apply small amount of jell  around all baseboard, toilet on the inside vanity use the powder.  I would also remove outlet covers and apply the powder inside outlet boxes, be careful not to touch wires,I would do the same thing in the kitchen and remove  drawer under range and apply the borax powder.  Put some jell in your cabinets among back corners.

    Good Luck
