  1. A v****a will NEVER smell bad unless you have an infection, if there is an infection then you require treatment either from a doctor or some infections you can treat yourself if you know how. The problem is that a lot of young women become paranoid that they smell, they then cover up the smell with the use of sprays or wash too much, both things actually cause infections so cause smells.

A lot of girls and women, particularly young women, quite simply imagine the bad smell when in fact they smell perfectly normal and healthy, often in pre-teens and teens the additional discharge they start to get makes them more aware of their v****a and v***a so they become more paranoid about the new smell they can smell – and they are the only ones who can smell it! It is just a matter of getting to know your normal smell and normal vaginal discharge so you know what is healthy and what is not, also know that your smell is normal, healthy and positive.

Fishy-like smells are a sign of a bacterial infection such as bacterial vaginosis, where ‘bad’ bacteria take over from ‘good’ bacteria in the v****a – your doctor may say you do not have a yeast infection, but were you screened for all vaginal infections and STD’s?

Wipes are a big no-no, the same goes for soaps, sprays, talc and so-called ‘feminine washes’, all of these are totally unnecessary and because they contain chemicals these can affect vaginal health and pH of your v****a which encourages bacterial growth that leads to infections. There are as many feminine wipes and washes on the market that claim they are made for that area to keep you ‘clean’ and ‘fresh’ but they are made purely to get money out of you by making you feel ashamed about your body. You do not need to use such products as they can be harmful to your v****a and v***a, also your v****a certainly does not need to smell like a bunch of flowers, vaginas are supposed to smell like vaginas!

    A few tips to keep yourself healthy and thus free from bad smells;

    • Wash with water – never use soaps or washes, these have an alkaline pH, and your v****a has an acidic one, this difference can trigger off changes in the balance of ‘good’ to ‘bad’ bacteria that would lead to an infection.  Also avoid talc, wipes and sprays, even those which claim to be made for women’s genitals are still unnecessary and can lead to infections.

    • Never use tampons, these prevent normal vaginal cleaning as well as give bacteria the perfect place to multiply within your v****a. Commercial tampons are worse still as these are made from synthetics and contain additives, chemicals and bleaches that affect the vaginal pH. Try safer options such as menstrual cups, softcups or diaphragm, if you insist on using tampons switch to organic tampons, sponge tampons, soft tampons or cloth tampons as these are safer than commercial tampons.

    • Avoid commercial sanitary pads, this is for similar reasons to commercial tampons as these too are made from synthetics, additives, chemicals and bleach that affect vaginal pH, the synthetics also prevent air getting to your v***a, making the area warm and moist so perfect for bacteria and yeast. Try organic pads, cloth pads, homemade pads, padded panties, or period belts instead.

    • Avoid pantiliners, these are designed to be worn throughout your cycle to deal with discharge, they are completely unnecessary as discharge is a normal and healthy part of your vaginal health, such products are made to make money by making you feel ashamed of your body. These risks that they pose are the same as with commercial sanitary pads.

    • Avoid clothing which is tight-fitting or made from synthetics, these prevent air getting to your groin, thus making the area warm and moist, by now you should know why that’s a bad thing. Try especially to avoid thongs, g-strings and jeans if you can, also avoid wearing bottoms to bed – in an ideal world we’d not wear underwear (or at least wear white cotton panties) and wear skirts, then sleep naked at night, but we don’t all want to do that so just avoid tight-fitting or synthetic clothing where you can.

    • Always practice safe s*x, remember s*x is not just p***s to vaginal penetration it includes masturbation, fingering, oral and anal s*x to, and safe s*x is a lot more than just using a condom it’s also about knowing the risks and how to avoid them.

    • Keep clean and dry, wash daily and dry yourself off well.

What you eat has very little to do with how your v****a smells, the smell is down to hormonal changes throughout your menstrual cycle which have an affect on your vaginal fluids and vaginal environment in general, also down to cleanliness – as I say, a clean healthy v****a will not smell bad, as bad smell is a sure sign of infection.

  2. Ok, first eating fish doesn't make your v****a have an odor. Had to put that out there for you.

It sounds like you are having some discharge with odor. Perhaps you have bacterial vaginosis. This is where you have a different kind of infection that requires anti-biotics. You need to see a Gynecologist. They can assess what is making your v****a have a foul odor.

Have you tried a feminine deodorant spray like fds? It can help mask the odor so people don't notice....but you really should go to the Doctor and have them run a few tests.

Also: are you sexually active? Lubricants, condoms and things like that can cause an allergic reaction and your discharge from that can have an odor as well.

    Good luck

  3. dont listen to anybody on here i had the same problem went to the drs so many times and nothing the last time i swithched drs and she said i never had a infection or stds that some girls or women get a foul smell due to irregular ph balances in the v****a the worst thing you can do is douche DO NOT DOUCHE it makes it worse i found that buying femine powder and sprinkler on your panties every morning does the trick or talk to your gyn about other options, hope this helps.

  4. Go to the doctor, you have an infection.

  5. Don't wash with soap. Soap has an alkalie pH, and your v****a has an acidic one. Either wash with water only, or get a specially made soap for 'intimate feminine areas'.

If you think you smell, the liklihood is your washing too much. This irritates the v****a which has a delicate balance. An irriated v****a will produce discharge, which may smell. This is mainly because the good bacteria have been washed away, letting bad bacteria in.

Also, wear cotton panties, as they let your vaginal area breath.

Don't worry too much about it. People can't usually recognise what the smell is or where it's coming from.
