  1. navel jelly with fine steel wool, then keep it dry or treat it with a good quality paste wax.

  2. use a scouring pad like sos then oil it good

  3. Hey, wait a minute. What type of metal is the table!? Mine is aluminum. If it is aluminum, you have galvanic corrosion and not rust! Be careful with what you are doing boss. If it is Al, clean with soap and water first, then brush with steel wool, then clean again with a soap like Simple Green and coat with spray silicon. You may have an alloy too. Just be careful, so you don't f**k things all up. Determine whether you have steel, aluminum, or an alloy, and procede from there. After you get the rust off with steel wool, consider Marvel Mystery Oil as a coating as well. You know, that stuff in the red and black can.

EDIT: Listen to Dan H too he's with the program. I forgot about paste wax and that is good too. But that Naval Jelly is a bi**h to get off, that's all. But he is correct.

  4. There has been some good advise but I still want to put my 2 cents in.

DO NOT do anything that will leave scratches on the table. Definitely don't use a wire brush! After you have it nice and clean and dry, put some kind of protective coating on it. This will keep it from rusting again and make your work glide smoothly. They make special cleaner, rust remover, and protector all in one can. I forget the name but I bought it at woodcraft.

  5. Brillo soap pad with thin oil NOT water, works very well., If you have oil for your car/mower etc thin it with mineral oil/ white spirit/ turpentine.

  6. wire brushing will do it well it'll make it look brand new get one to put in your drill any major hardware store will have one

  7. WD40 and fine steel wool.
