  1. the first letter you received doesn't state you qualify only that you could qualify.

Contact IRS at 1-866-234-2942 or 1-800-829-0922, they will refer you to the correct phone number to call, IRS could be holding your rebate if you qualify because of unfiled tax returns.  If you are not in full compliance by filing tax returns from 2002 thru 2006 then you must file all your returns first and once IRS process the return and you don't owe then will release the refund.  Unless you already have a debt then the rebate was offset and applied to the balance.

  2. good luck getting one of them on the phone

  3. When did you file?

    How did you file?

    Are you a dependent?

Edit:  Since you are a dependent, you are not eligible.  Sorry, but those are the rules.

  4. The first letter just said that you MAY be entitled to a rebate.  Get your federal 2007 return out and go to the rebate calculator on the IRS website.  Plug in your info and you will see if you get a rebate.

  5. If by "the first letter" you mean the one that came in March, read it again, it did NOT say you were getting a check, it said "you MAY BE eligible for...."

If you are a dependent, you are not eligible and will not get one. The first question on the stimulus calculator asks if you can be claimed as a dependent.  If you answer yes, it immediately tells you that you aren't eligible.  So if you entered your info accurately, it did NOT say you would get $600 - or anything..  The calculator only works if you put in accurate info.
