How do i get spyware off my computer?? HELP ME PLZ!!?

last night while i was on my laptop, my computer just started going slow out of no where and my desktop background had changed and said that i had spy ware in my computer and that i need to get it removed. i work with viruses and all that stuff but not with this spy ware c**p, HOW DO I GET IT OUT OF MY COMPUTER!!!!! FOR FREE =D. THANK YOOOOU! *in advanced*

Ad Aware - free from download.com - millions of users, good ratings.  Download  from the link below, load it and run it.  Check out download.com for other options, but this one is what is recommended in the IT dept of a the major co. I work for.  I also use Spybot and recommend it as well.

If you are successful in removing the malware, you may want to consider a spyware blocker as well. This is free and requires you to check for and enable updates manually once a week or so. It uses no system resources. It blocks spyware before it installs.
