How do i get started???

Okay so i want to find out my exact heritage.how do i do that?

all i know for sure is that im mexican and white but then my mom is spanish african mexican irish and a bunch of things,does that make me that too? im really confused!!!can someone please help me???and i would also like to find out about my ancestry...If someone can help me out i;d really appreciate it!!! thanks = ]

What you can do is start with your father and mother and their last names.  KEEP good records and start a list with each branch of the family.  American records are easier to find than foreign ones.  Also, searching on chat lines like yahoo to see if there are anyother people out there looking or with the same last names.  

    If any of your relatives have an unusual last name work with that.

    Remember too that different immigration took place due to war and economic downfall of countries so you may want to search for different eras and see if the family may have moved due to those things.


  2. The first thing to do is sit down with your oldest relatives alive and talk to them. Ask them who their parents were, their grandparents, and stories of them. The sooner the better. They do not live forever. Then start combing birth certificates for them and their parents, and keep going as far back as you can.

      What that makes you, is you, nothing more, nothing less. Now it is much easier than it was 20 years ago. Many of the resources you want to use are available on the Internet, 20 years ago you either had to travel to places to consult records or you mailed away for copies of records and they charged you for each one.
