How do i get the chaos emeralds?

can anyone tell me the easiest way to get chaos emeralds in sonic heroes for ps2?

To get to the emerald stage you must collect a key in an even level, level 2, 4, 6 etc (Ocean Palace, Power Plant, Bingo Highway etc) and hold it till the end of the level (if you get hit you lose it.) Then you have to race an emerald in a bonus stage. The trick here is to use power mode, they're the fastest and they collect the most orbs, cause the three spread out, go flat out and you should get the emerald in the first 10% of the level.
