How do i get those little symbol things?

you know how some people have little hearts or peace signs or w/e on their names on the computer? like where mine says "liz". how do i get symbols there? it's always bugged me like it's some secret that everyone knows and i can't figure it out. lol

goto start programs assesories and you should be able to find it

They are using ALT characters. To do it, you need to know the ALT codes and you type using using the combination of ALT and the numbers in your numeric keypad(in your keyboard).
