  1. practice every chance you get

read good cookbooks w/ lots of how-to photos

watch Food Network during the day (T-vo it.)

when you find someone who knows how to cook, ask if you can come into their kitchen and watch/help/learn from them

  2. practice practice practice, try things out at home, cook for your fam and if they dnt wanna eat it cook for ur friends.

Dnt let anything get u dwn,be all u were made to be!!!

  3. Get cookbooks and some ingredients and just COOK!

  4. I used to be the worst cook in the world. So I should be able to give you advise. Just follow everything in recipe books. Cook and bake all the meals possibly possible. If you do that for 1-2 years, you have learned so much. You will be able to distinguish the different herbs and spices and will be able to give your own twist to recipies. And come up with your own. It is very much possible. Dont give up. In the beginning it is hard. Just keep going, you can do it!!

  5. bye a cooking book would teach u step by step

  6. Practice all the time

    Create things (allow for failures)

Expand your tastes - try everything

    Study what the experts did

  7. Watch food network constantly.  Seriously, my boyfriend and I are becoming incredible cooks by doing just that.  Ask your parents to pick up ingredients for recipes you want to try.  Cook.  A lot!  If you become a great cook (and you have PLENTY of time), you will get them to take you seriously enough to send you to culinary school.  You will also want your first job to be at a restaurant.  It doesn't matter that you won't be working in the kitchen probably (maybe you can prep food for the chefs and cooks like cutting up veggies, etc.).  Another reason you need to work in a restaurant is that you need to feel the pressure of being ordered around by people that are even more stressed out than you in a hot, frantic environment.  Because that's what you'll be doing for your career if you go to culinary school.  I have a real passion for cooking but I wouldn't ever want to be a chef because of what a high-stress job it is.  Nooooo thanks.

    Good luck to you!

  8. Practice makes prefect

You gotta feel the food, see the food, be the food. You are the food!

  9. ok #1 be around anyone who cooks help out in the kitchen

#2 take home economics in High school or at least that is what it was called when i went to school 20 years ago

    #3 read cooking magazines

#4 when you go out try new things

#5 start practicing what you've seen

#6 then go on and start to create things based on your tastes

Never listen to anyone telling you you can't do something that will better your life

if cooking is your dream start to pursue it now

who knows maybe we will see you on shows like h**l's Kitchen or the Food network or something like that someday

    Best of luck young person'

dream big and go for it

  10.           I love the way you think. There is a quote," Anyone can cook." and i beleive you and I are a part of "anyone". Cooking depends on ones tougue, it is taste that enriches our cooking. You must train your tounge, taste many variety of dishes from many different cultures and such.

Then, When you have mastered that (mastering comes when you have tried almost everything you can handel and imagine), it is time to train your cooking. When your parents and siblings cook, you do the chopping and stirring, quote in the bible," Listen to advise and accept instructions and in the end you will be wise."

Later, when you have mastered your chopping, stirring skills (mastering is accomplished when you can chop straight, and know when to start, and stop stirring), you will begin to season and flavor food. Smell, taste and combine!  For example, Marinate steak not only with salt, and pepper, but try oregano leaves, and pineapples and some kiwi smuthered to make a softer taste.

Afterwards, it is time to COOK. C for clean, O for organic, O for original, K for knowledge. Make sure ever thing is Clean, the ingredients, the knife, EVERYTHING. Organic, we want as much organic to stay fresh, and healthy! Original, never purchase a meat with extra fat, or with onion flavoring, and such. You can add it yourself, but never purches additionaly premade items, it makes the final dish, unfresh, and instant meal-like.KEY POINT: Stick with original. Then Knowledge, always have knowledge when you cook. A person who does not THINK cannot make PERFECTION. Read cook books, and receive as much KNOWLEDGE as possible.

  11. Buy a cake mix, and bake the cake, and frost it with a can of frosting.  That is harder than you think, and you must follow all the directions to get a good tasting and good looking cake.  Then try making muffins from a mix ... again, follow all the directions.  Then try cooking an easy meat, like round steak ... you'll have no instructions for that, but if you look, you'll find recipes online that can give you hints ... and just use the recipes as hints but do the 'work' of cooking all by yourself, by 'intuition.'  Your 'next step' is to make three salads from scratch ... a fruit salad, a potato salad, and a green salad.  Again, find several recipes, read them carefully and then 'wing it.'  By doing this 'learning to follow directions' at first but figuring out how to 'wing it' you'll be learning the BEST sort of cookery ... and I should know, because I raised a large family (and most of their friends and many relations) and cooked professionally, and I'm married to a man who was a professional chef for 15 years.  Yes, we do eat much better than most ... but those 'bomb grilled cheese' sandwiches you make mean that you have chosen a good career path.  Hint:  next time you make cheese sandwiches, try using an artisan bread you must slice yourself and a different kind of cheese or even use two or three different cheeses.  Those are definitely 'bomb' and you'll have your family in awe of your 'talents' in the kitchen!

  12. does your mom have any recipe books? if not go to cooks.com and pick out a recipe of something you would like to eat then get your mom to go with you to shop for all the ingredients...then follow the instructions exactly and cook the great meal for your family...do this a couple of times a week...it will be lots of fun and your whole family might get involved in the planning of family meals...it is only by experience that you learn to be a good cook.....so what are you waiting for ...get cooking

  13. Practice. Start cooking some family meals.

  14. Of course practice is key, but also try experimenting. Don't be turned away from a recipe because you don't have all the right ingredients. If you don't have a certain spice, try something else.

When I want to figure out what spices would taste good, I smell them, and compare smells.

Also, read about basic techniques....how to roast a chicken....how to stir fry....how to make a cream sauce, some simple things. Then experiment from there. Don't be afraid to try new things.

  15. Ask your family some help, or watch Foodnetwork, It helps alot. When I was 13 I couldn't cook anything but water!! But eventually i asked my mother and grandmother for help and now i can make so many things, even better than my parents. And now they expect me to make a marvilous lunch everyday! But ask them for help, It does help!

  16. Practice, passion, ideas, experience.

Learn everything you can about food and cooking.  Get ideas from books and websites and also learn techniques.  You need both.  If you want to be a chef you'll need a lot of stamina too.

Also, as with everything, you need determination to succeed if you're going to do well at it.  Good luck!

  17. practice.  Thats what I did.  I've also been cooking since I was about 13.  I made almost every dinner for my family.  Just use your creative juices and see what you can do with it.

  18. Practice!  For your birthday or other holidays, ask for cookbooks, or look up recipes online that look appealing to you.  Try www.foodnetwork.com  Good luck!

  19. I am a cook myself, and I think the best way to become a 'great cook' is learn your knife skills, learn how to dice, juliene, etc. Learn what goes nicely with what, like which spice's fits together, what sauces goes with what kind of meat. A big thing in cooking is a good sauce. Watch food network or youtube.

  20. practice. it's always good to start cooking young, that way when you get older you can cook and care for urself. ask ur mom or grandma to help. start with little things and then work ur way up. that's what i did. i been cooking in the kitchen with my mom and grandma since i can remember. good luck and have fun with it!
