How do i get unemployment benefits?

I quit my last job and now im in school which im taking a loan for ,and still have to pay some money ,i have classes everyday 1-6 except for weekends so its kind of hard for me to find a job..i live with my aunts b/c my parents don't support me with anything .I don't know how to come up with the money for school .I have to get an education somehow...

How do i sign up for unemployment ?

  1. You cant get unemployment for quitting your job.  File a financial aid application with your parents income at http://fafsa.ed.gov and take out a student loan.

Unemployment insurance is just that - it's insurance against getting wrongfully terminated.  If you quit to go to school, that doesn't qualify.  However, you might be able to get some grants, scholarships or student loans; or get onto the work-study program.  To find out about those, you need to speak to the school counselors.  Finally, call all of your local temporary employment agencies because they might be able to find you temporary work.  Sometimes "temporary" jobs can last several years and be really nice!

  3. You can only get unemployment if you are wrongly fired or laid off from a job. If you quit you cannot get it. You have to look for a job while you draw unemployment and fill out the papers each week showing where you looked so you can prove it.If you quit you cannot get unemployment. Maybe you can find a part time job at the Ymca or something fun like that.
