i want to wash her but she knows when that i'm going to wash her when she hears the bath water running and hides, how do i wash her without traumatizing her.

if i lock her in the bathroom while i get everything ready she cries then i'm heart broken and let her out before i get to wash her then as soon as she's out of the bathroom she bolts and hides under the bed.

when i do manage to get her into the tub she freaks and in her haste to escape sometimes will scratch and bite, i love her and don't want to scare her but she's really overdue for a wash, she smells a little musky.

  1. You don't need to give your kitten a bath because they give their self baths by liking them selfs

  2. Well i have the same problem

So i doont turn on the bath water first, i find her and pet her, let her feel "calm and safe"

Thn i gently pick her up and walk with her. As long as she's relaxed, your good.

Then try to get into the bathroom without her freaking out. If she stats the wiggle or move, just keep going.

Thhen while in the bathroom, close the door.

Now listen, she may meow, but she needs a bath. So liek pick her up and put her in the tub.

Hold her with your left hand or whichever you prefer, and use the other to pour the shampoo on her.

Then you rinse her, and then dry her

    Then let her go ;]

    Always works for me ;]

  3. Normal cat's bathe themselves.

my cat will jump into a tub full of warm water but then again, she's not normal.

  4. my cat is the same way i bought these wipes  they are cat bathing wipes and he still doesnt like it but he doesnt cry and run away anymore you can get them at walmart in the cat section

  5. just get  little tub of warm water...and wash her

just be careful because she might claw at you

    my kittys hated it too

  6. you dont need to bathe cats. they clean themselves ALL day. if she smells weird it might be some part of her diet. or just spray her with fabreeze or something. haha as long as it wouldn't hurt her to l**k it off. if you INSIST on washing her (and keep in mind this is really mean, but so is washing a cat) turn on one of those showers that has two glass doors. then throw the cat in while the water is on. if you're a s****t it'll probably be pretty funny. if you're an animal lover you might cry. but you can snuggle her now that she'll be all clean.

    don't wash your cat.

  7. I would wash i dont agree to her up there but jsut use water lock her in the bath room and do wut u need to do the cat will get over it and wont smell like S**t

  8. ok well my cat loves water, but when she was a baby i gave her a bath with these wet wipes made for kittys..also i still use this dty bath called miracle coat..it comes in a pump and is foam....there is no water and dryies on contact when rubbed in, it also leaves a cherry sent.

  9. Don't bath your cat!  It's not necessary.  The cat will clean itself.  If it's still only little she will get better as she gets a little older.  They take a bit of time to learn how to do it properly.  Definitely do not put shampoo on her as it can cause big problems.  You're only stressing her [and yourself] out for nothing.

  10. before turning the water on tie it it to a leash and then give it a bath

  11. don't bath your cat they wash themselves but if she is smelly or some thing get a damp cloth and give her a wipe down.

    she will do the rest.....

  12. Try to rub her with a clean towel or a even a dryer sheet like bounce will make her smell a lot better.  Cats generally don't like water and giving her bath could end up stressful for both of you.

  13. don't wash your cat! cats clean themselves. washing them is bad for their skin.

  14. this is what i do, and it works every time.  but first you need a shower door (not curtain), and a shower head with a hose.  if you don't have the shower head with hose, prepare large water bottles filled with warm water.

first, you need to make sure your cat is calm and totally unsuspecting of her bath.  pick her up like you normally do, and walk into the bathroom, close the door.  by now, she will probably know what's coming.  but dont let her go until you are in the shower with her, and the shower door is closed.  now you can put her down.  she will meow loudly and try to get out, but since the door is closed, she has nowhere to go.

then make sure the water is a little warmer than your body temperature before you start washing your cat.  wet her coat thoroughly, then shut off the water.  this will make her less nervous if the water is off.  use a calming shampoo (i use the SPA lavender calming shampoo from Petco).  she will stop meowing by this point.  then turn the water back on, and rinse thoroughly, making sure to avoid wetting her face and ears.

after you're done, squeeze the excess water from her fur and wrap her in a big fluffy towel and towel dry.  if possible, you should blow dry her fur, but most likely she will freak out at the sound of the dryer, so just towel drying is fine.  let her go to her hiding place, where she will groom herself until she is completely dry.  now she will be nice and fluffy, not to mention smelling fresh!

  15. You should go to a vet. If your kitten is smelly it needs to go to the vet cuz i had a cat that smelled and got fleas. so we took it to the vet to get it washed.. Hope this helped.

  16. You are on the right path with washing your cat in the bathroom behind a closed door.

Although its hard to hear her cry, ignore it and quickly rinse/wash her. Using an extended shower head w/hose makes it easier to bathe.

Funny how happy cats get after receiving a bath.

    Good luck.

  17. Fill the water will warm water and throw ur kitty in there.lol jjkkkkkkkkkkkkkk put her in it and hold ur hand on her so she will know ur there.Oh just get in there with her

  18. You should probably bring her to a groomer. That seems like the best way to me.

  19. Our vet does cat grooming and we get our cat done once a year with her. it costs about $70 but it is worth it because he gets a trim (he is long haired) and a good bath. The best thing about it is that they sedate him so no stress.
