  1. license you go to your local airport

at a university you dont need to major in aeronautical fields but it helps

theres 2 ways to become a pilot

    airforce and navy

    and

    licensing

    choose

  2. There are several ways to become a pilot.

At 16 you can get a Student Pilot Certificate, that means ou can begin to take lessons at a local FBO (Flight School) at the nearest airport. Also at age 16 you can begin to solo, you cannot get your private pilot license until you are 17 however. Just to give you an estimate my flight school charge $91 /hr for a Cessna 152 and I pay $30 /hr for an instructor. Totaling about $121 /hr. At the rate I'm going I should have a license at 50-60 hours so it may cost $7500 dollars.

You can also join the military and apply to become a pilot, but there are absolutely no guarantees that you will become a pilot or get to choose the aircraft you fly, they pick the plane for you based on your test scores and grades in flight school.

Or you can wait until college and attend a specialty college like Embry-Riddle or Florida Tech that have their own fleet of airplanes to train pilots to get hired by airlines/regionals.

Their are many ways you can go. By going military you will spend nothing to become a pilot. Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech are about $48,000 a year to attend. I personally recommend taking Demo flights at an FBO to see if you truely enjoy the sensation of flight. If you do then study hard and fly ALOT to become an good pilot.

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. Maths and science subjects at university level would be a great help - though not necessarily required.

The best bet would be to go to the flying club  nearest your place and say hello to the people. Normally the people are helpful and would always like others to join their fraternity. If you find a club which offers flying training, go for a trial ride and see if it suits you. You would also like to have a look at the subjects you would have to study for the ground school. If all this suits you, you could enrol for initial flight training leading to a 'private pilots licence'. As you advance, you could go further and obtain your commercial licence after completing your flying hours and clearing the ground subjects. You would, of course, have to be medically fit.

The above, in a nut shell, is a basic guide which I hope will suffice for now. I sincerely wish you all the best and happy landings.
