  1. You pass a physical exam to get your medical permit.  You do the background check to show you are not a convicted felon, and you pass the test the state gives driving the class of vehicle you want a CDL for.  Unless you are experienced in the care, maintenance and driving of that vehicle, it's best to take classes first.

  3. Call  up  the  DMV{Dept. of  Motor Vehicles}  and  they  will  be  able  to  tell  you  exactly  what  you  have  to  do.  Good  Luck!
