How do i go about getting a job on an oil rig?

Tank crewman for 7 years, Navy for 5 years, now iam employed as a hydrographic surveyor.

  1. There are many entry level types of jobs that would be right up your alley. With your experience, though not oilfield related you could bet on with a wireline company, mudlogging company or other service industry jobs. Aslo as a routabout on the rig crew and work your way up to rig crew member.


  2. the local collage here has free "oil rig safety classes",,that also includes teaching you how to work on a rig,,,,,and be ready to be called a "worm",,which is same as FNG.,,,and you'll have to start at the bottom,,as said above,,start as worm,,then deckhand,,then pumper, or workover rig driller,,,its a hard job,,,specially down here in texas.
