3) Push or pull door open

4) Walk in

I don't know of any reason why You have to be with another person to get in.  Just go!

If you're going to feel silly to be alone, but still want to be there, you can pretend that you're waiting for a friend, it also gives you an excuse to look at the door whenever it opens, and to keep a stool empty next to you.  If a weirdo approaches, you can say it's your boyfriend or father you're waiting for :)

I am guessing that you are uncomfortable going to the pub / bar alone and I can empathize.

I have gone alone, but I went with the express purpose of getting drunk which I did in my younger, wilder days.

I guess you could take one drink at home just to loosen up so you won't feel so nervous and then just take the plunge.

I don't know - do people take along books or something to read like they do when they dine alone - if so, you could do that so you have something to do besides drink.

But you would be surprised, after all, people are drinking, loosing their inhibitions and I suppose you will too and then everything will seem free and easy.
