  1. i think standard is 18,

so a 12 would hurt if you shoved it through

    you can try though

    numb it with ice first?

you dont have to go to a professional

because i stretch [or gauge as some call it] my ears by myself

  2. first of all, it's a size too big. the next size you should go to is 14ga.

second of all, don't "dead stretch" (i.e forcing bigger jewelry in.) You need a taper and some lube. http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Taper

if you force it in, you'll meet problems like scar tissue that will affect your stretchings later in the future.

  3. I went from 18 to 6.

    Just shove it through.

And do it right before you go to bed, coz then it won't hurt anymore in the morning.

  4. ok, i work at hot topic, and what we recomend to people is, when your in the tens, you can skip a size.  so you might wanna figure out where your at right now. you can try 12, but it might hurt for awhile.

  5. I think you are supposed to slowly stretch it. I would go to a professional piercer and have them put it in.

  6. Its called "stretching". Don't ever, ever, ever shove a larger stud into a smaller hole. It will cause scarring and could get infected. If you want to go to a smaller gauge, you need to start slow and move down. If you're an 18, wear a 16 for a few weeks, then down to a 14, and then to a 12 if that's your ultimate goal. People who stretch out piercings like that take quite a while to get to their ultimate size. Keep in mind that if you're doing something like the tongue, the size will fluctuate b/c the tongue is a muscle and will adjust to whatever size is in there (over a course of time). Something like the ear or other part, what you stretch to, is what it will be.
