  1. Goto collegeboard.com for the SAT and actstudent.org for the ACT.

Anyone can sign-up for either test -- it doesn't need to be done through a high school or guidance counselor.  There is also no age limit -- if you pay the money, you can take the tests at age 100!

You'll sign-up for a test a local area high school and you can just follow the instructions on what to bring on test day (be sure to bring picture ID!).

In the meantime, I highly suggest taking at the very least a practice test.  You can get free books at your library and there are also free tests online.  You can of course also buy books at the bookstore or search out various companies for test preparation courses (both online and in a classroom).

    Good luck!

  2. Go back to your high school and talk to your guidance counseler. Or, I believe you can register for the tests on their respective websites.

Not to be a nitpicker or anything, but you should also get your GED, because alot of colleges are retarded and won't look at you if you don't have that or an HS diploma, no matter your test scores. However, it is not required, as a college is free to admit whoever it wants to.
