  1. Smile, look them straight in the eye, shake their hand and say, "Hi Jane, I'm Chris - nice to meet you."

  2. If you're meeting someone new through a person you both have in common then you say your name and relationship with the person.

E.g. "Hi. I'm Joe, Jill's neighbor." while shaking their hand.

If you don't know this person through anyone just say:

"Hi. I'm Joe. It's nice to meet you." or something similar while shaking their hand.

You don't have to shake their hand if you don't want to but it's considered more formal. Some ladies also put out their hand, not to be shook but softly squeezed. Yes, we do that =)

  3. I would say...Hi Jane, I am Adriana.  Nice to meet you, or pleased to meet you or even "how do you do?"

    Either is correct and acceptable.

    Good luck!!!

  4. You can say:

"Hi, I'm Mark, its a pleasure to meet you."

    Hope that answers.

  5. You respond by greeting them and then saying the name that you'd like to be called by. You can also throw in a pleasantry and repeat her name if you wish.

    Jane: "Hi, I'm Jane"

You: "Hi, Jane, nice to meet you, I'm Sara."

Or, if you need to be referred to by title (like a teacher, doctor, or professor), then make that distinction.

    Jane: "Hi, I'm Jane"

You: "Hi, Jane, I'm Dr. Sullivan."

You should never solely identify yourself by relation to another person.

    Jane: "Hi, I'm Jane"

You: "Hi, Jane, I'm Timmy's mom."

Unless you want Jane to call you 'Timmy's Mom'.
