  1. you cud dig it out to about  two feet lower then get a load of top soil delivered.hard work but worth it i did it with mine and its best thing i could do

  2. Mix some potting soil with the sand. this will  give it more water holding capacity and work the soil then water. After watering by 1 day plant your flowers.

  3. I would build some raised beds. Sandy soil won't hold enough moisture for the plants. One perk is that its easier on your back.

  4. See about adding aged manure & compost.  Both will greatly improve your soil.  You can also see about getting plants with long tap roots, such as lupin or butterfly weed, since they will send down long runners and are more stable.

If you go the manure/compost route be sure to add a lot and work it well into the sand.  The more the better.

  5. You could make a garden bed, digging out a section; at least 2 feet deep. Make a frame out of wood, or stone, or cement blocks. Lay plastic at the bottom of it to help hold moisture. You can buy this at any gardening or hardware store. A mixure of fresh dirt, potting soil, and manure will be the best to hold moisure. Make sure that there aren't alot of rocks and twigs in the dirt you add. They can hinder your plants growth. Use a tiller to mix all of the dirts and soils together well. Every flower requires differant growing conditions. Seed packages have some information on the back of them. For more information, you can check out books at the library or buy your own. Some need more light; opposed to others doing better in a shady area. Some need burried deeper then others. Paying attention to these details will benifit their growth. No matter the flower, they all need to be watered on a daily basis. Try watering either in the early morning, or evening to beat the heat. Be generous...you want your one watering to keep the ground moist all day. Miracle grow can also be helpful. Make sure you pay close attention to the directions. People have been known to kill plants by not following the directions closely. I suggest not using it, at least until the seedlings have grown to be strong and sturdy.  Gardening is alot of fun. Good luck! :)
