How do i have internet on 2 computers at the same time?!?

Question

i have a computer in my room and in my sisters room so were allways fighting over the internet.. we have to unplug my dsl phone cord thing for her to get internet in her room.

my friend gave me this router thing like 2 years ago so i could be on the xbox live and the internet at the same time but i have no idea how to do it with computers.

help me? (:

If you have a router that has an open port, you could run an ethernet cable from the router to her room.  This would fix the problem.  If the router is a wireless router, you could get her a wireless card and configure it and this would fix the problem.

if its a wireless router you simply eed to go and get a wireless adapter for one of the computers that is compatible with the router any electronics store can help you and there you go

A typical router will have several portd on it.  The one labeled power will need to be connected to electricity.  The one labeled input will want to receive your dsl phone cord thing and you will want two cat5 ethernet cords, one to go from your computer to one of the remaining ports, and another to go from your sister's computer to one of the remaining ports.  you'll want both computers to be off when you plug the cords in.  Finally, you will need to make sure your computers network settings are set up correctly.  If all the computers and the router are fairly modern than this should happen automatically.  If not you will probably be all set by setting the router ip to 192.168.0.1 and turning on DHCP.

take the router your friend gave you....plug the "dsl ...cord thing" into it on the Input port. then get 2 other wires the same as that one and plug them into the router. run one to your computer and one to your sisters.
