  1. My younger son also 6 yrs has had vocal tics and other types also. He has been suffering from ADHD. He was on medication but that did not help much. So we stopped. Sometimes the tics occur and after sometime vanishes by itself. If I were you, I would have ignored it however annoying it may be. But still if you cannot take it, only solution is to take him to a doc. God bless!

  2. Take him to see a therapist if you haven't already.  Could be Torretts (sp?) or Autism.  The therapist should be able to help with the tics etc.

  3. My son is 9 and he has been on ADHD meds since he was 6.  He had tics before but when on meds they are always worse.  The tics will also be worse during times of stress or anxiety.  My son has different tics.  They change every so often.  He usually always has a vocal tic though.  Clearing his throat, making a little noise.  Stuff like that.  He also has trouble falling asleep.  Just the other day we saw a new dr who put him on clonodine.  It is to help him fall asleep and to control tics.  He has had no side effects so far.  It was my last resort so we had to try it.  I don't want to have to medicate but if that's what he needs to function then so be it.  Hope this helps!  Good luck, I know it is soooo hard when you love them soooo much!

  4. The medication for adhd, stimulants, can make tics worse in those with a propensity for them.  There is an organization for more info and possible support groups for the parents and/or sufferers of tourette's/tics:  http://www.tsa-usa.org

  5. talk to his pediatrician and the school district.

  6. Ignore them  and have patience with him. If he doesn't have playmates outside of school- find him some. He needs more interaction with other children. He will eventually see that is abnormal and try to stop on his own. Don't worry -he'll grow out of it. You might also have him checked for Tourette's syndrome. That needs a different type of medication.

  7. my youngest son had a veral tic when he was that age. And for years after.

Call the school and ask to see the counsler. They can point you in the right direction.

    Good Luck

  8. He might have tourettes.  You really need to take him to specialist.  He needs to be on medication. If he has tourettes he will always have tics, however some medications can help. Get a proper diagnosis from a doctor!
