About 3 hours ago a really good friend called me crying her eyes out. She told me that shes going to kill herself.

I tried the best i could to calm her down and i think it worked. Since she stopped crying and told me that she wouldn't do anything tonight. but im not sure.

The reason that she wants to kill herself is because her father has been abusing her since she was 14. Shes 16 now and her father still abuses her. I think its getting worse because the last time i was over at her house i saw her father drinking in front of the t.v.

Often i see bruises on her arms and once she even came to school with a black eye. I don't think there's any sexual abuse, just physical. At least that's what she tells me. I believe her but im not sure.

Honestly i feel bad for letting it go on so long and that i haven't told anyone but im just not sure what to do. and since she called me saying that im really worried about her.

What should i do?

  1. think you did the best thing... listen... ask her if she has a plan... thats when they mean business... when they already know how they want to do it... most people say these things as a cry for help... make sure to let her know how much you care... and reminder her of all the others who care for her too...

  2. Call protective services, people should not have to live caged.

  3. This is terrible, you have to talk to someone, even get social services involved, this girls nightmare should end and end now,be a friend and phone right now.

  4. you must tell someone!! some one who can help!! even if she gets taken away,is not doing anything worth her life? good luck!

  5. Tell your parents immediately , then if they wont help, call the police and tell them everything you know, They can and will help.

The simple fact that he has been doing this for 2 years is plenty of reason for you to take matters into your own hands. If she is actually suicidal you need to act FAST, don't wait anymore!

  6. If you get on to your local police station, they should be able to give you the information you need.  The names of the organizations, telephone numbers and contact person.

I think the abuses should be reported and documented and she should be taken away from her father's abuse immediately.

The call you received today is a cry for help.  It as is apparent, this 16 year old does not know what to do and the only way out that she can see at this moment is to end her life at 16 years..... how very tragic.

She needs to get away from her father immediately, get counseling and most of all to have a true friend by her side.... like you.

I will pray for he and ask God to help her.

  7. Tae her to a women's shelter if she can't see what is wrong then it is time for you to call the police!  She will be pissed, but she needs some intervention

  8. convince her to speak to the school councilor, and just tell her that you're there for her, and reassure her that by talking about it she won't make matters worse. she should be removed from the same building as him as soon as possible. maybe you could go to the councilor with her, for moral support or something?
