Were going to the same horse camp, and honostly, shes not a very good rider. can barely keep her heels down. and i think her big problem is that shes afraid shell hurt the animal. how do i get her to realize that a horse needs discipline? and the counselours are my cousins, so i dont want my friend to get mad at them! also, how can i teach her to muck out a stall well? or should i just wait till my cousins teach her?

  1. Have her over at your place. prcatice mucking. and practice riding. just say the consilers at the camp are going to yell at you if you dont ride right. her heels down toes up and have he feet sticking out if she needs to.

  2. I think you should let the people who run the camp do the teaching. I'm sure they're experienced with beginners and will be able to explain these things to your friend. Have fun at camp :)

  3. I would let her figure it out honestly. Sooner or later she will dislike being shoved around and take a stand. When people dont seem to be getting it I will bring up a really high up pony club instructor that I had once. Jazz was being nosey, not pushy or biting just was in her business wanting to check things out (I wasnt paying attention to him, bad me). She didnt even look up from what she was doing, just reached over and smacked his nose not really hard but enough that he got the message. When tell people I am just like "He got the massage really fast and after that minded his manners" I think people take examples over words any day as well. If Jazz gets nosey I will reprimand him and tell them to do the same. Same with biting and kicking.

I would let her look forward to camp and learn as she goes. As long as your friend is out around horses with you who cares if she doesnt know as much.

  4. u should let them teach her so it dnt come in between yalls friend ship

  5. You might give her some suggestions and tell her that keeping her heels down will improve her balance as well as confidence.  This will not hurt the horse either.

As far as mucking, you could say "hey, I want to show you a quick and easier way"  That might help.

  6. do something wrong like make your reins too long and then explain to your cousins then they'll correct you and her and she wont feel bad. also you could suggest to her that while your there that you help each other out like you muck out both the horses you get together that way you can teach help her if she doesn't e

    get what your cousins say.
