  1. just hit em hard, u wont injure unless ur prone all have poor technique

i used have dis huge guy on our team called Tom Houston and every time some 1 big ran at us we would say 'Houston, we have a problem' lol.

  2. drop your shoulder under his rib cage there's a nice soft spot there so you wont injure yourself, and drive with your legs, and i guarantee you he wont run at you again. the alternative is get to the gym and bulk up!!

  3. You need to learn martial arts.

  4. Hey mate. erm in terms of rugby, your best bet would be to tackle low, and hard. Just think you have two arms free, whilst he is running trying to twist and turn, holding the ball. Guaranteed, you will knock this guy of coarse or better still - get him to the ground. = P

  5. What the first guy said... he aint gonna go anywhere if his legs cant move... true...?

  6. tackle around the legs, shorten your stride and bend down late for more power , it is unlikely that u will knock them back if they are bigger but the point is to make an effective tackle , and with the unoccupied hand get ur hand behind his knees to put him on his a-s-s which ultimately results in a slower play the ball

  7. Ask Barry Hall!

  8. I'd ask the question in the AFL section -

  9. yep.   true that-  If u r real worried about hurting ur self dont do this sport-

Otherwise,     tackle around legs, grip on both legs-   and think of how the legs work.............    You want to run full strength & put your power onto somewhere that'll knock em down   eg.   Both legs at the same time, legs side on knee area which will buckle their legs or legs straightbehind the knee which will buckle the leg!

You best aim would be to aim at both legz wit speed and precision.  You cant run or hurt anyone with no legs

    best of luck

  10. Unless you've got good technique and timing, the shoulder charge is not for you. If you have to go the shoulder charge... go in solid and from the side, or at an angle... front on will generally get you levelled if you are smaller... but from an angle you have a chance of putting them off balance.

If you've got confidence then take their legs.. otherwise stand your ground and as they approach, tackle around the waist and slide down to the legs.

The only time you'd want to go high is if it was on your own tryline... then securing the ball is the priority.

Technique is what is going to keep you healthy.

  11. ok mate

    side blind the b*****d

  12. tackle them around the legs

  13. make a textbook tackle, right around the legs. If you get hurt, so be it. If your worried about getting hurt your in the wrong sport.

  14. Depending upon how much bigger than you the guy is, there are a couple of techniques that you could use.

The one I recommend, having used it myself, it to go for the ankles, rather than the legs. This normally works, really well, since if you knock the ankles, the player is guaranteed to trip. Try sprinting, and hive someone knock your ankle. You'll go down. All you need to then do is tap him on the back for a tackle.  So to do that, don't run at the opposition, rather, run as though you are going to pass just beside him. When you get close, get low and go at the ankles. This works on nearly everyone who is going at speed, and it will nearly guarantee that you don't get hurt.

The other method that you could use is to goat the knees or thigh. Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but there is, in the technique you use. For this one, you have to actually run at the player, and then get down low and dive at his legs as he approaches you. wrap you arms around them, to stop him running. This will bring him down. Unfortunately, because you are actually running at the guy, there is a chance that you could get hurt, although playing league, this is expected.

Hope these made sense to you. They both will take a bit of practice to perfect, although in essence they are fairly simple. You could also ask you coach, and I'm sure he would be able to show you.
