Question:

How do i hold my breathe for a long time?

Trying my hardest i can only hold my breathe for 10 seconds. I dont know what to do. I want to hold my breathe for longer without fanting,because my brain will start breathing. HOW?? any answer will help

  1. first off ur brain doesnt breathe. ur lungs do. to answer ur ?, have u tried just holding ur breath above water, then tried to hold ur breath underwater? that might work. also, do u breathe wen u need to or want to? b/c if u need to breathe, then try holding ur breath just a bit longer. if u do that often enuf, then u'll hold ur breath for longerr amounts of time. hope this helps.

I had this one thing to what i do i relax in the water and feel comfortable and it's basically a mind over body situtaion i'm basically meditating i clear my mind of thoughts or if you can't do that think of something to distract the breath holding. It takes practice also if you run or do laps at the pool your lungs will become good so you hold your breath for a longer time and before starting take a couple of deep breaths then when you're comfortable go down and hold breath (stay calm when you're under water the lower your heart rate the longer you can hold). At first you're gonna feel okay buy after a while (Depends on how good you're lungs are) Carbon Dioxide will build up and your brain will be telling you to breath but remember mind over body so think you're not the body anymore you're the mind (it's pretty hard to do that so that takes practice) and forget everything and keep holding and don't take your self to far or you'll faint or even worse die but before you faint you're body will react and will take a breath (which is called Commen Sense) trust me it takes practice and discipline i was inspired to do that by David Blaine. this website has amazing tips and safety methods because holding breath is dangerous you can get brain damage, stroke, or Death scary huh well then just follow they're tips! http://www.shark-freediving.com/blog/200...

  5. well,insted of holding my breath when swimming i put a ballon that isnt blown up yet in my mouth(if u blow it up before u get in the pool it wont go to the bottem cuz it will float)then i go underwater and blow it up then i start useing the air in the ballon to breath useing my mouth,its not really gonna help u hold your breath longer but it helps you stay underwater while being able to breath hope i helped

  6. practice cause i used to only hold my breath for 30 seconds underwater now i can hold for over a minute im not sure if it increases your lung capacity of its just you getting used to the feeling of holding your breath but it sure works.
