Question:

How do i hook my computer to my projector with a usb?

who ever can answer this will be alot help. i have an optima projector it has a usb port in the back i have no idea why it would be an input but it dosen't say ether way. i want to use that to play the video from my computer is that possible or is what seems to be such a cheap and easy fix that just can't be done. ant help would be great thanks in advance

  1. Well, I'm guessing your projector has a USB input for some other purpose than sending video through it.  Perhaps it's used to control the projector (focus, zoom, etc.).

    The problem is that USB doesn't have enough bandwidth to carry raw video.  It has plenty of bandwidth to carry compressed video (mpeg-2 say), but that would mean that the projector would have to have an MPEG decoder in it, and I don't think projectors usually have those in them.

    I could be wrong, of course.  Good luck.


  2. I am in agreement with Noodles, your projector would have a USB input for firmware upgrades or some other purpose, the simplest way to hookup your computer to the projector would be with a standard VGA cable, as most projectors have that as an input connector.
