How do i hook my xbox 360 up to the internet?

I live in an apartment complex that has free wireless internet but it requires a password. I don't know how to get my IP address or any of the other requirements. I have a Linksys wireless adapter hooked in to the 360.

Unfortunately inside your console is a code that doesn't allow anything but the Microsoft xBox 360 wireless adapter to connect to the internet, so your linksys adapter isn't going to help you here. Also, seeing as Microsoft has a monopoly, the adapter is near $100 US/CAD
