How do i hook up 5 different speakers?

ive taken 5 different kinds of speakers from 4 different kinds of speaker boxers and built my own box, and hooked them all together, so there is a total of 2 boxes of misc. speakers, but i also have 2 technics speakers which are from the factory i have done nothing to them to modify them. heres the problem, ive hooked all 4 of these up to my stereo, and when i turn it up all the way, the music im playing suddenly gets scrambled and staticky. i was told to hook up some resistors in the wiring on the ones i built, but it could also be my stereo cant supply enough power to my speakers. so i guess my question is how do i stop the scrambling and the static?

  1. What kind of crossover network are your using?  You ARE using a crossover network, aren't you?


  2. You can't just feed 5 different drivers the same signal and expect them to perform well. Drivers are specifically chosen to reproduce a certain frequency range which means using a crossover, passive or active.

    The static and distortion you are hearing is coming from drivers trying to reproduce frequencies they were not designed to play. Feed them more power and you are most likely going to blow your tweeters.The woofers can take the high frequencies but will sound horrible.

    There is no way to fix it unless you add a crossover. A passive crossover means knowing the T/S parameter of the drivers and integrating the different frequency responses to integrate them as a system (which may not even work depending on the nominal impedance of each individual driver). If you choose to go active then it means multiple amplifiers and an electronic crossover which will set you back quite a bit. The best thing to do would be to sell the individual drivers for whatever you can get then buy a decent pair of speakers that are already built. If you still want to continue with your speaker project then pick up a decent book on speaker building and box design which will help you more than anything else.
