How do i hook up a surround system to my tv?

I have a samsung HT-TZ515 .. It's wireless, well I can't seem to figure out how to make the sound work for my tv. the dvd part of it work's but when i'm watching tv i don't hear it.. Can someone please help?

  1. Of course, you never bothered to tell us what model TV you have or what sort of connections it has.

    Your Samsung system has HDMI... so connect a HDMI output from your TV to the Samsung, would be the best choice.

    If your set doesn't support HDMI, then use the 3 composite video connections and optical digital out (if the set has it) or if not, you will be stuck with the red and white RCA jacks... which will not give you surround sound anyway...


  2. it all depends on a thousand variables.  Let's assume you have cable TV, and you are using the cable box to change channels.

    You need to connect the audio out from the cable box (NOT the TV) to the surround sound receiver.


  3. You need to run stereo audio cables from the back of your tv to the input on the back of your receiver/dvd player.  Good luck!!
