  1. I would approach this by singing, a cappella and recording it into your computer or a digital recorder.  Take the piece you're doing in segments and learn them one at a time.  Sing into the recorder, go back and listen to yourself, note where you have trouble and practice, practice practice.  Be sure you keep plenty of clear, non-carbonated fluid like water or tea handy while you practice.  If your voice gets sore, Ibuprofen can help reduce inflammation.

  2. Get on a keyboard, and match tones on the keyboard. Plunk out your melody on the keyboard, and sing with that. Often when we're tone deaf without help, it's because we have a hard time finding the tone that we're supposed to start on. For example, if we're in the key of C, and we're supposed to start on an E, sometimes we'll start on C or G instead. One option for that is to think about where the first note you start on falls in your vocal range. If it's higher than you normally like to sing, think about that before you open your mouth. Think about where your natural note is (the note you're MOST comfortable thinking) and where your starting note is in relation to that. Good luck!

  3. Drink water. Dehydration is bad for the voice and hum often. Voice therpists say to hum
