  1. practice practice practice

  2. You need to keep practicing (Duh!), but also study hard in English. You are just learning and there is some much more out there. However, I am going to tell you my little secret, read, read, read. The more you read, the more you will be able to pick up on things. For instance, you will notice sentence structure, which words are best for certain emotion, how much detail there is, or how much something is emphasized, etc. So read lots. Plus, it will also give lots of ideas if you read.

  3. When I was your age I kept a journal (kinda like a diary) only when I wrote in it I didn't limit myself to what happened that day or my thoughts.  I wrote poems, short stories and ideas for other writings.

And I wrote ALOT.  Don't worry about spelling and other distracting stuff when doing your journal.  The idea is to free your mind and put down as much as you can.  Later on, you can go back to your journal and play with some old ideas you had or practice finding mis-spelled words, etc.

  4. practice, write more and more and ask people for their oppinions

  5. Read... Read the greatest of all time, and try to read in their own language. Therefore try to learn more languages, it will help. Practice... Read Bradbury.. Zen, thing, I don't remember, that essay it will help you a lot. And most of all, be critic.

  6. What Emo says is so not true! I am a publisher and several years ago my company published a story written by a sever year old girl and illustrated by her mother.

You will have to keep practicing and if you really want to get published now, find an adult who will help you with the business stuff and the editing and all that.

It will take hard work and if you are serious you will have to keep at it, but you can do whatever you set your mind to.

Right now at my company, we have a 16 year old who has two short stories published by us. So you DON'T have to be a college graduate. I own a company that has published more than 200 books and short stories and I am not a college graduate. Neither are a huge number of my author friends.

We have a contest on one of our web sites that is geared toward kids. Visit http://www.quakeme.com and click on the Tremors link.

You will need an adult to help you, but you should consider it.

  7. First off, most people who get books published have graduated college, usually with an English major. An 11 year old has next to no chance of getting published - not only because the writing is going to be assumed naive and inexperienced (not that it actually is; I don't know what kind of a writer you are), but because there'd be no  time for you to promote your book because of your need for further education.

Second, join a writing site. Not one where you put up your work for critiques - that's just asking to have your work stolen - but places like http://www.writersdigest.com/. They have writing prompts and tips and such that are extremely helpful. Ask your teacher for writer's workshops at school or in town somewhere. Read other books and look at the author's techniques, what sort of plot elements are popular, what works and what doesn't, what people like in stories, et cetera.

    Good luck. :)
